Who the Hell-os is Xellos?!

And what am I doing here?!

Some of you may have strayed upon my site searching for Buffy the Vampire Slayer crapola, and perhaps some of you have come here in a search for Slayer links (eek! don't hurt me! ha ha j/k). But I assure you, The Slayers has absolutley nothing to do with thirty-something actors portraying teenage vampire hunters (I loathe that show! They took a perfectly good 80's movie and danced on it's grave >:P) and has even less to do with scary heavy metal (Okay, unless you count the heavy metal guitar solos that dominate most J-pop songs.. ;p). And lo, some of you, like I once was, may be here to learn more about an anime they've never seen or heard of before and wish to know more about one of its most beloved and rockin' characters. (And some may be here just because you were directed here by someone linking to me).

Whatever the case, you may not know about my Allmighty, All-Purpleness Unquestionable Lord and Master! (Aiiiie!) This is a site about him! If you don't already, you need to know! No, I will not tell you about the story and what is the purpose of Lina Inverse and blah blah, this is about XELLOS, so take notes!

A picture truly does speak 1,000 words...

Name:
Xellos Metallium (No, it's NOT Xerosu, or Xeross, wise up!)... Though in Japan, they often spell it "Xelloss".

A.k.a.:
The Mysterious Priest, The Trickster Priest (Though I don't know when that one's mentioned). Filia calls him "Namagomi mazoku!" ("Monster trash!"), but, dammit, someone as prejudiced as her IS the namagomi!

What the hell is he?:
He's a monster! With a kawaii human form*! In Japanese, it's called "mazoku" ("monster race") for what he is (I think mazoku is cooler ^-^). A lot of people call it the "demon race" or "evil race" and will say he's a demon or something. But those people DESPISE the dubbed version and wish to call him demon instead of monster because they want to stay as far away from the dub as possible**. Anyway, monsters are sadistic/masochistic by nature (a scary thought! 0-0), the pain of humans actaully makes them stronger (and happy =I ) . Happy, anti-chaos pro-happiness words actally do them physical harm (Amelia shouts love-slaogans and Xellos is on the ground in agony in one episode). So monsters are basically Blue Meanies.

Age:
Most people will tell you "Over 1,000". He fought in The War of the Monster's Fall, which took place 1,015 years ago. If you saw the flashback, he WHOOPED OVER 100 DRAGONS' ASS TO KINGDOM COME. I don't think someone only over 1,000 could do that! My guess is that he's 2,000 or 3,000 at least.

Occupation:
Though he DEFINATELY does not look it one bit, he is a high-ranking mazoku general. Lemmie tell you about the mazoku; They are a huge, evil, secret organization of monsters and demons and dragons and what-have-you. Their ultimate goal is to destroy all order and restore everything to chaos, desrtuction, and pain. Xellos is WAY UP THERE on the heirarchy.

What's his sign?:
I've never heard of an official birthday for him so I wouldn't know. But I did assemble a Slayers zodiac and he was the only one to fit Aquarius (I'm not playing favorates... but that's what I think!). In one book, Aquarius is described as, "Intelligent, humorous, original, humanitarian (well, he is in a bad way), lacking emotion".  Other signs like Gemini (too friendly!) or Scorpio (too serious!) don't really work as well.

Relations:
His boss is a Miss Zelas Metallium (also where he got his name). Some say she created him (like Washu and Ryoko!) and some say he used to be human and she turned him mazoku (I don't really think so :\). Whatever! Zelas is called The Beastmaster (ooh! I am sho shcared! :p), and she is addicted to ciggarettes. I have never seen any solid evidence of what she looks like, but if it were up to me, she'd look and sound like Patty or Selma Bouvier. There is no romance between her and Xellos (even though all she does is show leg whenever we see them conversing), because they probably do have a Washu/Ryoko relationship (Creator/Createe, Boss/Henchmen, Mother/Child, blah blah blah).

Hobbies:
Tea, torture, and espionage! Drag is also up on the list. He seemed to get into his character as a woman a little TOO enthusiastically.

Prop/Weapon?:
Yes! A big magic stick thing with a shiny red ball in the fork at the top. He uses it as like a magic wand (like the Istari! Woo hoo hoo!) and he even used it to poke the holy smeg outta poor Valgaav. Death by poking -- that would have been embarassing... -_-() Later on, he gets the Bow of Light (or something?!).

Catch Phrase:
"That is a secret!" (or "Sore wa himitsu desu!") It's his answer to absolutely every possible question you can ask him. Wait, hold on...
Kili: Ahem... Hey, Xellos! What's in the Secret Sauce ?
Xellos: *smirks* That... is a secret!
Kili: See what I mean? -_-()

He Appeared In:
The Slayers Next and The Slayers Try. No, that wasn't him in The Slayers. That was a lady by the name of Sylphiel. For a very long time before Sylphiel's debut, I was very confused every time they rolled the opening sequence.

Voice Actor:
Original Japanese Version = Akira Ishida (A good singer and a cutie voice!)
English Dubbed Version = David Moo (Everyone says he sucked, but I though he was great! He was every bit the smarmy Xellos we all know and luv! Plus it's fun to make fun of his name!)

* I have heard his true form is a scary, swirly cone. Hey Xell, show us your cone!!
** I think demons are more like spirits that can take sylph-y forms and possess people. Monsters, I think, are more physical. That's what I think!

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine! (If that's not a subliminal message, I don't know what is!!)
